Dixie Louise Smith Clark, 77, of Denham Springs, LA passed away on Saturday May 27, 2023. She was born on May 24, 1946. She graduated from Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge, LA. She was married to the late James E. Clark, son of the late Dave and Annie Mae Clark, and late brothers “Squawkie” Clark and “Sunny- Boy” Clark of Denham Springs, LA. Dixie worked as a waitress and restaurant manager 36 years for the former Giamanco’s Restaurant on Government St. in Baton Rouge where she had numerous patrons, who overwhelmingly voted her as Louisiana’s “Waitress of the Year”. There after she worked as a caregiver providing end of life care her friends and members of her family. She was truly one of a kind, best known for her strong spirit and will to serve others, along with her light hearted sense of humor that was coupled with generous laughter welled from a happy heart. She had a knack for remembering everybody’s name and their birthday, all for the goal of giving back respect while trying to bring joy and happiness to others. She had a passion for the outdoors, and she loved fishing, colorful flowers and pretty things, traveling, playing, and rock hunting. Last but not least, she was well known for her delicious southern style of cooking seafood, wild game, soul food, and Italian cuisine. She is preceded in death by her parents Carey and Mary Smith, her brothers Floyd, Joseph and wife Kathy, Frank and wife Shelia, her brother-in-law Vasilis Sideris and wife Margaret, and her step daughter Carole. She is survived by her son John James Clark and his sons John Dylan Clark and James Everett Clark; her stepson James Ray Clark and wife Becca Walters Clark, and their sons and daughter B.J. Clark, Dave Clark, Lacee Clark Marcias with their children; her step granddaughter Celinda Thompson Wilson and her children; her brother Carey Smith, James Smith and wife Sonya, and many wonderful nephews and nieces. Per her wishes, there will be a memorial remembrance hereafter at a later date.
