Ronald “Ronnie” Lee Harper

Ronnie Harper passed away peacefully on June 6, 2023, at the age of 71. He was born August 15, 1951, in Shreveport, Louisiana as the first of three sons born to Jesse L. Harper and Paulin “Polly” Harper. For most of his career, he worked for Jacobs Engineering at the Exxon Refinery in Baton Rouge. Ronnie was a long-time member of the Churches of Christ in Baton Rouge and was highly active with youth work, bus ministry, and hospitality. He enjoyed many years as Camp Director at Camp Smiling Acres in Greensburg, LA. Ronnie frequented the regional lakes and always looked for an excuse to take his boat out fishing. Ronnie loved all things LSU: the sports teams, the colors, and taking visitors to see Mike the Tiger.

He is survived by his two children and their families: David and Deana Gregor (Katrina, Brittany, David, Alie, Mackenzie, Caleb, Emily); and Kimberly Harper (Greyson), and by five great-grandchildren (Felipa, Ana, Ollie, Reuben, and Penny).  He loved being a Paw Paw. He is also survived by his two brothers, Greg Harper and his wife Becky, and David Harper and his wife Laurie. The family thanks the staff at The Woodleigh of Baton Rouge for their care and compassion during his last few years and the staff of Clarity Hospice for their attention during his final months.

Services will be held Saturday, June 24 at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs with visitation beginning at 10:00 and a memorial celebration at 11:00.

LSU and Dallas Cowboys attire is preferred. Fishing attire is welcome.
