Murphy Woodruff
Murphy Woodruff, a very beloved husband, father, brother and son died peacefully at his home on June 19, 2023, after a long and debilitating illness. He was a Christian who had a simple faith – he believed that when your time was up, the Lord would take you home. He was born on December 16, 1953, in New Orleans and was a long time resident of Denham Springs. He was retired from Weststar Construction where he was the Shop Foreman. He was an avid bowler and loved to fish. It didn’t matter if he caught anything or not, he just loved to be on the water in a boat. He had a heart of gold under a gruff exterior, and my daddy summed him up perfectly when he told me: “Niki, you got a good man”. Yes, Daddy, I sure did. He is survived by his wife, Antoinette Nicholas (Niki) Villamil Woodruff, two daughters, Dana W. Haley and husband Ryan, Dianne Woodruff and a son, Murphy Woodruff, Jr and wife Cheryl, stepson Jason Villamil (Joanne Velardo) and stepdaughter Antoinette (Nena) Lyman (Doug) , brothers Dan Woodruff (Nellie), Charley Dan Woodruff (Patricia), three sisters, Mary Anne Lemoine, Vivian Delrie, Linda Courville, a sister-in-law, Regina Woodruff and a dear friend Linda Aiken, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley Dan and Vivian Howard Woodruff, a stepson, Joseph Villamil, brothers Ronald and Willie Carl Woodruff, half-brother James Woodruff, three brothers in law and a great nephew. His body will be cremated and burial will be private in Palmetto Cemetery. There will be no services according to his wishes. A very special thank you to his hospice nurse, Laterria, who treated him with much kindness, and to his daughter Dana, his brother Charley, and our friend Linda, who looked after us and always helped us whenever we needed them. “He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces”.
