Tommy G. Jones, Sr.
Tommy G. Jones Sr. went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday July 18, 2023 at his home in Livingston, LA surrounded by his family. Tommy was born Sumner MS and raised in Charleston, MS. He graduated from Charleston High School and Hines County Jr. College. Tommy joined the U.S. Army in the 1960’s and received an Honorable Medical discharge. Tommy & his wife moved to Denham Springs where they raised their 3 children. He worked at several plants in the Baton Rouge area as an electrician and also owns numerous rental properties.
Tommy and his family started attending Amite Baptist Church in 1969 where he worked with the bus ministry for several years. Tommy enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, helping others, and attending men’s bible study group.
Tommy is proceeded in death by his parents Floyd & Elma Jones, brothers Floyd Jones, Jr and AJ Jones, sisters Jeaneth Ann Jones, Juanita Jones Holland, and Beatrice Jones Roach and his son Clinton Eric Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Elizabeth (Libby) Jones, daughter Vivian Jones Redden husband Louis, son Tommy Gene Jones Jr., sister Mattie Jean Lewis, grandchildren Leslie Redden Wascom husband Kris, Louis (Boo) Redden III, Kandis Redden May husband Randy, Crissy Jones Fuller husband Brett, Tommy (Trey) Jones III, Christopher (CJ) Jones, and Brannon Jones and 11 great grandchildren.
Services will be at Amite Baptist Church in Denham Springs, LA on Monday July 24, 2023 with visitation from 10am to 12pm services starting at 12pm with burial in Amite Church Cemetery.
