Edwina Catherine Byrd Waguespack

June 26, 1943 – August 24, 2023

 Edwina Catherine Byrd Waguespack, beloved Mother, NaNa, Aunt and Friend passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2023, surrounded by those she loved at Heritage Manor, Mandeville after an extended illness.

Edwina was the daughter of Edward and Rita Mae Byrd.  She is survived by her sons: James Stoddard (Hope), Steven Waguespack (Carol), Brad Waguespack (Lori), and Alwyn Brown (Chris); her grandchildren: Whitney (Derrick), Clayton (Raven), Lauren, John (Dawn), Kristin, Ashley, Nicole, Frank, Jessica, Adam and 13 great-grandchildren; her God-daughters: Rhonda Pentney, Kimberly Boudreaux and Judy Ferris; her Sister-Friends: May Miley, Loretta Mayeaux, Patricia Wade, Jeannen Lott, and Jackie Weaver; Cousins: Jacquelyn Boudreaux and Deborah Carbonette; Special Niece: Tecia Hunter

Ewina loved her family beyond measure.  She never allowed any need to go unmet and cherished time spent with friends and family.  Her faith saw her through many hardships and struggles.  Prayer was her strongest defense.  She spent countless hours searching for the perfect cards and gifts for those she loved on special occasions.  If you were loved by her, there was no doubt where you stood.  She made everyone feel like they were her favorite person in the world.  You knew you were loved when your birthday rolled around and there was a special card and gift in your mailbox, or a special package wrapped and decorated with stickers on Christmas or Easter.

Edwina is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alwyn Waguespack; her parents, Edward and Rita Mae Byrd; her sisters, Joan Schneider and Brenda Gonzales, and her grandson Steven Cody Waguespack.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Heritage Manor of Mandeville and St. Catherine’s Hospice for their care.
