Kevin Gale Stauffer, Sr

Kevin Gale Stauffer, Sr., affectionately known as “Pop Pop,” passed away surrounded by his family on September 5, 2023, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. A resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Kevin was born in Bossier City, Louisiana, on January 27, 1950, to the late Kenneth George Stauffer and Dorothy Ann Gleason.
Kevin was a 1967 graduate of Morton High School in Morton, Mississippi, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Millsaps College, Jackson, Mississippi. While at Millsaps, Kevin was a member of Alpha-Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Sigma. He was active in intramural sports and was a cheerleader for the Millsaps Majors. After retiring from medical technology sales, Kevin spent his time working with his hands. He was a remarkable craftsman and artist, loved to cook, and made the best gumbo friends and family ever put in their mouths. He was an incredibly kind and humble man who never met a stranger and would do anything in his power to help someone in need. His kindness touched many lives in his 73 years.
Kevin leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Wanda Kay Stauffer; his daughter, Caroline Turney (Brandon) of Tupelo, Mississippi; his stepson, Scott Cooper (Jennifer) of Central, Louisiana; his daughter-in-law, Beth Stauffer-Perez (Hal) of Prairieville, Louisiana; his sister Katie Stauffer of Washington state, his brother Jeff Twiss (Cathy) of Gautier, Mississippi, and the mother of his children, Debbie Brangenberg (Carl) of Tupelo, MS. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Dixie and Skip Stauffer, Parks and Shelby Gale Turney, Savannah and Hailey Cooper, along with a host of family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth George Stauffer, mother Dorothy Ann Twiss, step-father Arnie Twiss, brother Jon Twiss, and his best friend and son, Sergeant Kevin Gale Stauffer, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Kenneth Williams, Dr. Donnie Marascalco, Bruce Ray and Earl Yancey.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Trinity Lutheran School, 15160 South Harrell’s Ferry Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70816 or to Concerns of Police Survivors, PO Box 3199, Camdenton, MO 65020.
Please join in the celebration of life on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church 15160 South Harrell’s Ferry Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 – 3:00pm.
