William Manning “JR” Sitton, Jr.
William Manning Sitton Jr.’s “JR,” life ended peacefully on the night of November 7th at the age of 74. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who loved his family and his country. JR was a proud veteran who served as a Private in the United States Army during Vietnam War and received numerous ribbons, badges, and medals before he was discharged with full honors in 1973. His friends and family are left with many fond memories of gathering at this home where there would always be delicious food to eat, a football game on TV, and several hands of cards being played around a table full of love and laughter.
JR is survived by his wife Mary Sitton, his son Seth Sitton, his daughter Shena Sitton, his two grandchildren Tristen and Dacee Hensley, his great grandchild Kingston Hensley, his sister Elizabeth Butler, his nephews Chad (Amanda) and Shane (Michelle) McMichael, and many other nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father William Sitton Sr., his mother Edna Sitton, his sister Irene Duffany, and his brothers Charles and John Sitton.
A Memorial Service will be held this Saturday, November 11th on Veteran’s Day to honor his service, his life, and his legacy at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs. Visitation will begin at 10 am and end at 2 pm followed by a service at 2 pm. In remembrance of JR, the family asks that charitable donations be made to Disabled American Veterans and/or Tunnels to Towers Foundation in lieu of flowers.
During this time of loss, we remember the gift of God’s peace promised to us in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor let it be afraid.”
