Willie Cecil Tate, Sr.
Willie Cecil Tate, Sr. passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 peacefully at home, he was 96. He was a WWII veteran, retired Captain of the Detective Department of the Baton Rouge Police Department. After retirement he did landscaping and drove a taxi for his daughter. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of The Pentecostal Lighthouse Church. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, 3 daughters – Katherine Spradley (Jackie), Madeline Tate & Joy Woolfolk (Michael), 8 grandchildren – Huey Jr & Joel (Shelly) Bertrand, Angie Desmond (Eric), Sandra Hicks (Kevin), John Murray Sr., (Natalie), Gabriel & Joshua Tate and Melody Grimmett (Dustin), 23 great grandchildren – Brittany Saiyan (Blake), Jeremy, Donovan, Amanda & Nick Carpenter, Laura, Megan & Sierra McCallister, Braycen & Piper Bertrand, Tiffany Abernathy (Paul), Dusty Stewart (Bree), Nikki Desmond (Cody), James Desmond (Chelsea), Shelby Ferace (Brock), Bryce Tassin, John Jr. & Nathan (Sarah), Amber & Troy Sullivan, Autmn Bush, Emma & Johnny Grimmett, 24 great great grandchildren – Cora, Aiden, Roeck & Oliver Saiyan, Ella Jo Bertrand, Sadie & Swade Martin, Justin, McCoy, McCain & MCullen Stewart, Keilen Johnson, Leon Polk, Evelyn Oaks, Aaliyah & Kynslee Belcher, Wes Desmond (on the way), Baelyn Farace, Rose & Chase Corkern, Ayla Rose, Zane Blount, Christopher Bourgeois and Gabriel Bryant. Preceded in death by his parents, Calvin & Zillie, brother Pete, sisters Lorena and Clarice, son Willie Cecil Tate, Jr., grandson Hugh Errol Bertrand and great grandson Cody Ray Corkern Pallbearers are Michael Woolfolk (honorary), Huey Jr. & Joel Bertrand, Kevin Hicks, John Corkern Sr., Dustin Grimmett & Dusty Stewart. Visitation will be on Monday, December 04, 2023 at Seale Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00, Service performed by Bro. Mike Allen will begin at 11:00 with the procession immediately following the service to Louisiana National Cemetery in Port Hudson, LA.
