It is with great sadness that the family of James “Jimmy” Roy Tate announce his sudden passing on December 3, 2023, at the age of 76. He was a native of Baton Rouge, LA and 46-year resident of Greenwell Springs, LA. Jimmy was a 1965 graduate of Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge, LA. He worked in various areas of construction and maintenance for most of his life. He loved his family and friends deeply and never missed an opportunity to crack a joke for laughs. He was an avid fan of LSU sports and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. But his absolute favorite pastime was bass fishing! He will be forever remembered and dearly missed. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Kathy G. Tate; daughter, Sheri Tate (Linnie) Hughes; sons, Chad Tate and Brent Tate; grandchildren, Blaine (Lauren) Hughes, Brandon Hughes, Gabriella Tate, and Gavin Tate; great-granddaughter, Riley Hughes; brother, Glenn (Janet) Tate; nieces, Lori (Andy) Yi and Kelly Tate; great-nephew, Benjamin Yi, and great-niece, Maddie Yi; closest friends, Greg (Karen) Kirby, and Donald (Joni) Herrmann. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman Tate and Mildred Stevens; and sister, Sandra Scott. At Jimmy’s request, no services will be held. Condolences may be offered at www.sealefuneral.com.
