It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Inez “MawMaw Nez” Freeman Brown on December 12, 2023, at her home in Livingston, Louisiana. Inez was born on April 8, 1932, in Summit, Mississippi. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, ceramics, crafting, and was an avid reader. She was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church. She is survived by her son Cecil Norman Brown, Jr. (Sharon Fortenberry), grandchildren: Tina Smith (John), Thomas Brown (Vicki), and Susan DiBlasio (Anthony), great-grandchildren: Kevin Smith (Tara), Cody DiBlasio (Megan), Jacob Brown (Kimberly), Nathan Hughes (Maitlind), Joseph Brown (Blair), Sophie DiBlasio, and Aiden DiBlasio; great great-grandchild: Adam Smith, siblings: Shirley Chisholm, Donald Freeman (Geraldine) and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Cecil Norman Brown, Sr., son James Edwin Brown, daughter-in-law Linda Fisher Brown, parents Wren and Estella Norton Freeman, sisters: Leona “Skeeter” Chisholm, Bobbie Carter, and Geneva Muirhead, brothers: William Freeman, Mike Freeman, Jack Freeman; brothers-in-law: Cliff, Frank, Ed, and Edward; sisters-in-law Maryetta, Joy, and Jeanette; and grandson-in-law Matthew Hughes.
Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Livingston, on Monday, December 18, 2023 beginning at 9:00 am. Reverend Jack Varnado will conduct funeral services at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Old Red Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Tommy Brown, Jacob Brown, Joseph Brown, John Smith, Kevin Smith, and Nathan Hughes.
