Noel Karith Palmer
Noel Karith Palmer, age 85, a native of Louisville, Mississippi and a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023. He was born April 10, 1938. Noel was a veteran of the United States Air Force faithfully serving his country for two tours, and then made Louisiana his home. He worked for the City of Baton Rouge Police Department for 30 years, retiring as a lieutenant officer. Noel was an avid artisan and could make anything out of wood. He was most known for his beautiful hand-carved ducks and detailed models. He once said, “inside every piece of wood was a bird trying to get out.” He is survived by his sisters Betty Faye Smith and Patricia Ann Gregory (Donnie) of Brandon, Mississippi; three children KaRetha (Roger) Kelley, Karla (Gregg) Covington, and Kelly (Donna) Palmer
of San Bernadino, California; three stepchildren Donna (Leo) Estrada of Marksville, Louisiana, Randy Bringol, and Scott (Monique) Bringol of Covington, Louisiana. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Noel was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Bobbie Palmer; parents, Kerney and Virgia Palmer; his brother Terry Gene Palmer and his wife, Carolyn. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 5, 2024, at The New Beginnings Baptist Church, Walker, LA. Visitation will begin at 12:00 followed by the service at 12:30 p.m. conducted by Dr. Richard Blue. An inurnment service will take place the same day at 2:30 p.m. at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Magnolia Columnbarium, Baton Rouge, LA led by Elder Jim McCartney. The family would like to extend a very special “thank you” to the staff and workers of Baton Rouge Hospice and the Golden Age Nursing Home.
