Charles Parish “Carty” Nettles
The life of Charles Parish “Carty” Nettles ended on December 26, 2023, at the age of 52, but the light he radiated continues to shine through everyone he touched. He always had a smile on his face, a funny story to share, a laugh waiting to erupt, and all who met him walked away as a friend.
Carty did all the things that he was told he would never be able to do. He earned his GED after struggling through high school and went on to earn his CNA through Jobcorp in Louisville, KY. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, camping, hiking or taking photographs. In every job that he held, his extreme work ethic shined and he worked with a happy heart and a smile on his face. Many people know him from the photo department at the Covington Walmart where he was ready with a smile to help in any way he could.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Webb and Mildred Nettles, his maternal grandparents, Percy and Cecil Mae Pierce, his sister, Lauren Nettles Bomar and his Aunt Virginia Kay Smith. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Melinda Server Nettles, his parents, Phil Nettles and Hilary and Cecil Albarado, his sisters Claire Obgartel and Dawn Sonnier, his brothers Joe Albarado and Zachary Nettles, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at the Bogue Falaya Hall at 317 North Jefferson Avenue, Covington, Louisiana. Family internment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Denham Springs.
