Jerry Glenn Shelton
Jerry Glenn Shelton, age 66, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and resided in Walker, Louisiana. He passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center.
Jerry was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a highly skilled craftsman who could build and repair anything. His work was meticulous, thorough, and flawless. His diligent work ethic not only portrayed who he was as a laborer, but it was a depiction of his character, his heart, and the person he was as a whole. Jerry was an honest, authentic, and genuine man whose generosity knew no bounds. He embodied this behavior daily in how he cared for and provided for his family. As a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend he sacrificed endlessly. Many relied on him as their lifeline because he gave so selflessly and worked tirelessly to provide for the comfort and safety of others. He truly had a heart of gold. Jerry wasn’t a man of many words, but he spoke with gravitas. When he did have something to say it was either wildly hilarious, or extraordinarily impactful. He was an attentive listener known for his advice and guidance even during the most difficult circumstances. To know him was to love him. He left his mark on anyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Wanda Irene Shelton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and David Ellis and Chrissy and Jerry Murphy; one son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Hannah Vindigni; seven grandchildren, Candace Ellis, Matthew Ellis, Madison Ellis, Gabe Ellis, Summer Clement, Ellana Fawcett, and John Preston Vindigni; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Sharla Shelton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
