Joe A. Stroud
Joe Almond Stroud, age 93, died on Wednesday, January 24,2024 at his home surrounded by family.
Born February 17, 1930, to Thomas “Jack” Stroud and Linda Horton Stroud. A native of Montrose, LA, and longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Joe served 7 years in the Navy during the Korean Conflict as Quarter Master, 14 years in the Air Force, retiring as a decorated Master Sergeant and finally finished his work career retiring from the State of Louisiana with 19 years of service.
His favorite past time was spending time with family, especially the grandkids. Joe was a founding member and manager of the Baton Rouge Scottish Rite Childhood Early Learning Center, a Master Mason for over 50 years, Past Master Mason of Florien Lodge #263, a 33rd degree KCCH and Worshipful Master of the Valley of Baton Rouge, SJ, Past Grand Patron Order of Eastern Star.
Survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley, 4 children, Sherry (Herb), Cindy (Donnie), Paula (Rob) and David (Annie), 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one brother and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Proceeded in death by his parents, mother and father in law, 4 brothers, a sister, 2 brothers in law, 3 sisters in laws and 3 nieces. Pallbearers are Guy Jenkins, LW Alexander, Brad Williams, Larry Bossier, Tony Spedale, and James Stockner. Honorary Pallbearers Bobby Williams, Gene Cagle, and Terry Howes.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 10am until noon with the service following at noon, Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs.
