Dennis Ray Bauer

February 22, 1948 – February 4, 2024

First and foremost, Dennis was a born again believer in Jesus Christ, his personal Lord and Savior!

He lived life Full of joy, showing tenderness and mercy to anyone who came to him in need. An athlete in his early years at Baker High School, Dennis went on to serve his country proudly in the Vietnam War. Dennis worked many years as a member of the United Association of Plumbers and Steamfitters, Local 198 and Local 412. He was a friend of Bill W. and participated in Alcoholics Anonymous for more than 45 years. He dedicated his life to helping others in their work toward recovery.

Dennis had friends everywhere, and if he ever went somewhere that he didn’t have a friend, it wasn’t long before he made one. He had a playful and joyful personality that somehow just drew people in.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jeff  Bauer, his mother Julia Bauer, his brother Phillip Bauer and his dear friend Specialist 5 – Lemuel Isabelle. Lemuel  took a fateful helicopter flight in February 1969, in Dennis’s place, dying of his wounds February 25, 1969 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Panel 31w Line 50).

He is survived by his wife Jenny Egan Bauer, whom he loved and adored; his sisters, Jo Ann Bauer Walls and Tammy Bauer Burton (Jerry); his son Chris Bauer (Jill); his daughter, Carie Bauer Frazer (Brian); his daughter, Heidi Romaire (Alan); and his daughter Crissy McDonald (Buck). Grand Children: Camille Bauer, Luke Bauer, Madeline Bauer, Orren Frazer, Dylan McDonald, Colin McDonald, Laney McDonald and last, but certainly not least in his heart, Colten Roundtree.

Dennis is also survived by countless other friends of Bill W. who he worked and fellowshipped with over the years, and the countless lives he touched through A.A.

We will miss our prayer warrior, our husband, our daddy, our grandpa, our brother and our friend.

A memorial service will be held at Live Oak Church in Watson, Louisiana. Visitation will begin on Thursday, February 8th, 2024, from 9am to 11am, with his Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11am, officiated by Dr. Mark Crosby, Bro. Sam Lobello and Bro. Stephen Hebert. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Dennis Bauer’s name to Live Oak Church – Refuge Ministry, PO Box 709, Watson, LA. 70786.
