Allen Stanley Johnson

Allen Stanley Johnson, “Stan”, 76 of Hammond, Louisiana died peacefully at home on Sunday, February 25, 2024 surrounded by family.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patti Brueck Johnson, daughter Laura Johnson Craven, sons Larry Wayne Johnson, Craig Andrew Johnson (Reagan), grandchildren Carley Craven Decoteau (Mason), Cree Craven Steib (Peyton), Caiya Craven Wilbon (Gerald), Champ Craven, Gideon Johnson, Levi Johnson, Waylon Johnson, Hayes Johnson, great-grandchildren Eden and Silas Steib, and Leo Decoteau.  He was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Earline Johnson and son-in-law Kenny Craven.

Stan was a four-sport letterman at Baker High School where he was inducted as a member of their football Hall of Fame.  He attended the University of Southern Mississippi on a football scholarship where he received his bachelor’s degree in education.  He received a master’s degree in supervision and instruction from University of Louisiana Monroe.  He began his coaching career at Bastrop High School as an assistant coach then moved to West Monroe High School as an assistant coach for one year and became the head football coach and athletic director for five years.  Stan then began at State Farm where he worked for forty-five years until his death.  Stan received numerous accolades during his tenure including the coveted Crystal of Excellence Award.

The guiding force in Stan’s life was his love of Jesus.  He helped begin the first chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the University of Southern Mississippi where he served as president for four years.  He was ordained at age of twenty-three by the First Baptist Church of Bastrop. Patti and Stan had the privilege of teaching Sunday school, bible studies, and discipleship groups in every church they were members. Stan was involved in several outreach ministries.  Stan was a charter member of Crossroads Church Hammond and served as an elder.

Stan was an avid outdoorsman and shared that love with his children and grandchildren. Stan spent his life living, not dying.

Services will be held at Crossroads Church, 143 Robin Hood Dr, Hammond, LA 70403 on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM. Service to follow at 11:00 AM.
