Kathy Jean Triche passed away peacefully at her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday, March 31, 2024. The youngest daughter of the late Joseph Alvin Triche, Sr. and the late Kathryn Watts Triche, Kathy is survived by her brother, Joseph Alvin Triche, Jr. and her sister Marilyn Triche Evans (David). She is also survived by her four nieces, Kristen Triche Bevilacqua, Jodi Triche Mortillaro, Nancy Leigh Triche Janous (Bill) and Monique Evans Fitzpatrick and one nephew, Mason Alvin Evans (Andrea); nine grandnieces and grandnephews and her long-time partner, Hugh Ramirez.
Blessed with a true love of life, KaKa, as she was known to her grandnieces and grandnephews, brought a lifetime of joy to her family and friends. She will be remembered for her compassion, generosity, and commitment. KaKa was giving to anyone in need. She was the originator of the family “pay it forward” challenge where she would leave an outrageous tip to an unsuspecting service industry worker during the Christmas season, and then called upon her family members to do the same. Her generosity left a mark on everyone she encountered.
Kathy was a caring person who not only loved people, but also creatures big and small. She spent countless hours training and caring for her horses, dogs, and rabbits. In earlier days, she lived on a farm in Folsom, Louisiana where she maintained a stable full of horses, including Queenie and Skippy, that were kept in check by her white German Shepherd, Ski.
Kathy was a dedicated professional who taught special education in St. Tammany Parish and Livingston Parish public schools. She often entertained all who would listen to her humorous tales of capers in her classroom. After 42 years of service to her students and their families, she retired in 2014.
Staying true to her nature, Kathy continued to be a compassionate servant to the elderly. To say that Kathy was committed to her friends, coworkers, students, and family is an understatement. She cherished the moments she spent with all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her devoted partner, Hugh Ramirez, and family members to cherish and continue her legacy.
Visitation will take place at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Saturday April 27, 2024 from 9 AM-11AM with memorial service starting at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at www.alzfdn.org or at 1-866-232-8484.

Kathy was a wonderful friend and big sis in AOII at Southeastern. We were lucky enough to stand in each others wedding and then teach many years together at Southside. I think of her fondly and laugh as I think back at some if our escapades. She was loved by many and will be truly missed. RIP my sweet friend.
