Lynn Miller King, Sr.
Lynn Miller King, Sr., a long-time resident of Walker, passed away peacefully at his home on May 2, 2024. He was born in New Orleans on January 6, 1943 and was 81 years old. He spent his childhood years attending schools in New Orleans, Ponchatoula and Baton Rouge, before finishing in Walker, LA.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Phyllis King; children, Lynn King Jr. (Donna), Mike King (Christina), Michelle King (Leo), Ricky King, Eric King (April), Timothy King (Becky) and Paul King (Lori). He is survived by step-children, Clarissa Hebert (Mike), Breanna Case (Michael), Krystell Case and Preston Case. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind one brother, Terrell King, one sister, Suzanne Utrera, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Ida Bozeman King, a brother, Lawrence Fletcher, brothers in-law Glen Clark and Larry Utrera, sisters-in-law Vicki King, Ann Hebert and Janese Pugh, a grandson, Tyler King, and a daughter, Linda Veillon.
Lynn proudly served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. He was stationed aboard two aircraft carriers, the USS Shangri-La (CVA-38) and the USS Enterprise (CVN-65). While serving aboard the Enterprise, the ship was deployed to participate in the blockade of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
After his military service, he had a long career working as a Millwright in LA, TX and MI. While he loved his chosen trade, he was always a gardener at heart and loved working outdoors. His gardens were legendary, and he shared his fruits and vegetables with many people throughout the years. He was Founder and President of the Livingston Citrus Revolution and planted hundreds of citrus trees in his lifetime for veterans to enjoy. He also served as Founder and Chairman of the Livingston Parish Veteran’s Association and was passionate about helping veterans that were less fortunate than himself. He was a proud member of the Grand Lodge of Masons of Michigan, and most recently the Denham Springs Masonic Lodge. He attended church at Live Oak Church in Watson, LA.
The family would like to thank longtime friend and physician, Dr. Thad Broussard for the many years of excellent care he provided. They would also like to thank all of their friends and family for their support and prayers during his illness.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, LA. A Masonic service will be held at 10:40 a.m. with the religious service at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Pastor Wes Courtney.
