Kevin Thomas Buchert

Kevin Thomas Buchert, born June 27, 1970 at Warner Robbins Air Force Base, Georgia. Died May 17, 2024.

Kevin graduated from Episcopal High School in 1988 and was loved by so many. He was a charismatic, bright, handsome, and incredibly talented athlete and student who was kind to others. He was truly blessed with so many gifts from God and loved his family deeply.  His teammates, classmates, and after school friends loved him like a brother.

After high school, Kevin attended LSU and was a member of the Theta Xi fraternity. During his years in college, he began to feel the call to ministry and spent a good bit of time in Russia as a Christian missionary. Speaking Russian, Kevin preached outdoors in the winter, on public transportation, and anywhere he could share the Gospel message. He was very special to those who were privileged to spend time with him, and his personality was infectious.

After returning to the US from Russia, Kevin’s life had its ups and downs as we all have experienced, but one thing emerged as the victor in his journey: his love for Jesus. In the last few years of his life, Kevin spent his time in service to others and being actively involved with First New Testament Church in Baton Rouge, LA, where he found much joy and strength from the loving Christian families.

Kevin was preceded in death by grandparents Rosamond and Joe Killebrew and Lorraine and Cyril Buchert. Survived by mother Linnella Garrett and father Thomas W. Buchert. Also survived by twin brother Keith Buchert, sister Ashley L. Wegmann (Joe), niece Emma L. Wegmann and nephew John Thomas Wegmann.
