Wesley Ray King
Wesley Ray King, a life-long resident of Denham Springs, LA, died on June 10, 2024 at the age of 82 due to complications following a year and a half battle with bone cancer.
Wesley is survived by his wife, Glenda Miller King; his children, Tracey King McFearin and her husband Destry, and Tiffany King Doss and her husband Scott; and his grandchildren, Courtlyn McFearin, Bailey Doss, and Trevor Doss. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley King, and Rae Barron King.
Wesley was born in Baton Rouge, LA on August 27, 1941 to John Wesley and Rae King. He graduated from Denham Springs High School in 1959. After attending Northwestern State University for two years, he enlisted and served for 5 years in the Army where he was trained as a marksman. 57 years ago, on July 2, 1967, he married Glenda, whom he met through a date arranged by his aunt. They built their house on his family’s farm where they raised their two daughters. He then retired from the Exxon Research and Development Lab in 1999.
Wesley was a devoted son, husband, and father. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He would also take on various projects. Some of his projects included: building birdhouses, picnic tables, and porch swings, and working tirelessly on fixing up his tractors. Anyone who has been to their house knows that he liked antiques and was an avid owl collector. Upon retiring, he could often be found sitting on the front porch enjoying the shade and breeze from his old oak trees with his cup of coffee and cigar or relaxing in his chair watching Fox news. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor at 11 a.m., Friday, June 14, at Seale Funeral Home on 1720 S Range Avenue, Denham Springs, LA, 70726 with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Hebron Baptist Church, Denham Springs.
