Darrell and I worked together for a number of years and were riding partners. At the time the City Police had two Officer units, especially after dark (officer safety was a concern, THEN) and we handled many difficult situations. He was a fine Officer, handling situations with diplomacy and sometimes using a bit of humor to diffuse a potentially explosive situation where the callers temper was out of control. It’s from him that I learned how “size up” a situation and read within minutes a persons emotional state by observing their “body language”. I am saddened to hear he passed away but I know we’ll all be reunited with friends and family in the presence of our Lord and Savior. An old pastor friend explained to me when I was much younger that death isn’t so much of a “loss” because we know where our friend or family member went. Death should be looked upon as a “promotion”. No more suffering, eternal life with a new body in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
