Laura Ann Fontenot passed away June 15, 2024 at the age of 62. She was born in Rayne, Louisiana on October 11, 1961 and attended Melville High School. She was a pipefitter for years and later in life became a caregiver. Laura proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was an active volunteer in local communities. She enjoyed all things art, gardening, music, carpentry, survivalist activities, kayaking, fishing and camping. She loved to be around her family and often held gatherings so she could spend time with them. She was also an animal lover and loved her fur and feather babies. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children Sara Carson Weaver, Lucas King and Lane Michael Fontenot, her parents James William Fontenot, Sr. and Doris “Dolly” Mae Fontenot, grandchildren Riley Ann Carter, Hugh Jay Marionneaux, Carson Stelly, Connor Fontenot, Caine Fontenot, and Scarlett Fontenot, Sisters Catherine “Cathy” Bennett and Melanie Ryder, Brothers James William Fontenot, Jr. and Darrell Fontenot, niece Lindsay Robertson, nephews Derrick Fontenot, Carter Peake, Jacob and Jared Bennett, and James “Trey” William Fontenot III. She is preceded in death by her sister Toni Ann Fontenot, Maternal Grandparents Joseph and Carson Posey, Paternal Grandparents Clarence and Della Fontenot, Aunts, Lela Posey, Thelma Carstensan, Opal Parr, Betty Denham, Patricia “Pat” Templette, Yvonne Williams and Lilly Graves and Uncle Roland Posey. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Care, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Dr. Kevin Fox and Dr. Matthew Walker and all family and friends for your love and endless support.

Aunt Cathy, words simply cannot express the gratitude and heartfelt thanks for providing an abundance of love, care, and tranquility for our mother in her final days on this earth. With all our love,

Visitation will take place Saturday June 22, 2024 at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

    Aunt Laura. You were such a kind soul and such a giving person. You’ve done so much for me and my family growing up. You will be missed. You can rest now.

    I am so sorry about your loss. Laura and James were my classmates at Seventh Ward Elementary at Denham Springs. I treasure my memories of those school days with them. I am praying for all of you.
