James Farley Baroni, Sr.
January 15, 1939 ~ June 26, 2024
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7.
James Farley Baroni, Sr., 85, went home to his Lord and Savior on June 26, 2024. He was born to Edward and Daisy Baroni in Natchez, MS, on January 15, 1939. He proudly served in the Mississippi National Guard before being honorably discharged and later marrying the love of his life, Betty Marie Foster Baroni. They raised three children in Natchez, MS, before moving to Baton Rouge, LA in 1970. James started his career as a young boy in the grocery business bagging groceries and stocking shelves. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in providing great customer service and maintaining a clean and orderly store. He later moved up the ranks to various levels of management and retired from A&P and Kroger. Although, the greatest title he ever held was being promoted to a grandfather and becoming affectionately known as Poppa. He later had a second career working at Harbor Freight for over a decade while residing in Watson, LA.
James was an extremely hardworking and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. When he was not working to provide for his family, or caring for his cherished pets, his greatest hobby was working in the yard with his wife. They were often awarded the neighborhood Yard-of-the-Month for their love of gardening and attention to detail. Their self-manicured landscaping was admired by many.
James is survived by his three children, James (Jimmy) Farley Baroni, Jr., Traci Denise Baroni, and Teri Lynn Baroni; four grandchildren, including his beloved granddaughter and caregiver, Brittani Adams Davis and her husband Lance Davis, Amanda Baroni Saccaro, Austin James Baroni, and Blake Landon Baroni; great-grandson Asher Blair Saccaro; siblings Paul Baroni and Polly Baroni Hoggatt; as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Foster Baroni, parents Edward and Daisy Baroni, siblings Edward J. (Buddy) Baroni and Louise Baroni.
A special thank you to the administrative staff and nursing team at Golden Age Healthcare in Denham Springs and Life Source Hospice of Baton Rouge for the love and care provided. A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez, MS on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Please sign the online guestbook at
