Katheryn Monette Davis passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024 at the age of 81 while surrounded by her loving family and friends.  She was a lifelong resident of the greater Denham Springs area, living her last day under the same oak tree where she was born on the family farm – a priority and goal in life that she accomplished.  She is preceded in death by her parents Willard E. Davis and V. Katherine “Pet” Davis.  She is survived by her two brothers, Coy Day Davis and Olen Ray Davis; sister-in-law, Jane Harlan Davis; nieces, Nancy Davis McConnell and Erin Davis Bielkiewicz; nephews, Richard Alan Davis and William Doerr Davis; grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Sydney Pugh McConnell, Cole Ethran Bielkiewicz, Connor Haase Davis, Caleb Joseph Bielkiewicz, Meagan Price McConnell, Brennan Nicholls Davis, and William John McConnell; step-nephews Bryan Allen and Jimmy Allen and children Zachary Allen, Trent Allen, and Daryn Allen Morrish.

A graduate from Denham Springs High School in 1961, she went on to work for the Louisiana Department of Education as an accountant and retired there after 36 years of dedicated employment.  She was greatly admired and respected by all of her co-workers, many of whom became some of her greatest lifelong friends and travel companions.  Among her greatest enjoyments in life was traveling with her many friends to destinations throughout the country and abroad.  She was never known to sit idly by when there was a ship ready to set sail or a new adventure to embark upon.  Her extensive travels always brought back a richness in life that she shared with her many friends, and especially her companion of many years, Dale Booty, who she loved so dearly until his passing in 2017.

Among her greatest enjoyments and pursuits of happiness was the dedication she committed to her many nieces and nephews, 11 in total.  She was a second mother to them all, participating in their lives in such a beautiful way, helping to raise and nurture them by extending her eternal love to them.  To them, and to all who knew her, she was the most beautiful of souls – always kind with the gentlest of hearts, dedicated to her faith and the goodness of all things pure and honest, and cherished by everyone beyond measure.

In her final years while battling cancer, she demonstrated her courage and strength in the face of adversity.  She triumphed over that adversity by teaching us all how to overcome the greatest challenges of life with dignity and grace.  Her kind and gentle soul will be missed by so many.  Blessed and privileged are all who knew her and were touched by the face of an angel in her presence.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Tuesday July 23rd 2024 at 10:00am with services to follow at 12:00pm.  Pallbearers: William Davis, Connor Davis, Brennan Davis, Johnny Arnold, Zachary Allen, Trent Allen, Colton Morrish, and William McConnell.  In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations in her honor to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center (www.marybird.org

I went to school with Monette but she was a year younger than me. Monette was such a sweet person I don’t know of anyone that didn’t like her.
In later years our paths crossed again
as a friend of mine was a good friend of hers. I was able to keep up with her and many times our paths crossed especially at Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg!
My condolences go out to Monette’s family in her loss.
