Tommy Matthew Stringer

On Friday July 19th 2024 Tommy Matthew Stringer was welcomed into the arms of our Heavenly Father. Tommy was born July 11, 1933 to Bamer (Chandler) and Homer Stringer in Taylorsville, MS. Tommy attended Taylorsville High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Local 198 (Plumbers and Steamfitters Union) and Local 798 (Pipefitters Union) in Baton Rouge, La. He also was a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Mississippi F∴ & A∴ M∴ with a 32nd degree.

Tommy Is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Sylvia Jeannette (Husband) Stringer, his parents Bamer and Homer Stringer and his siblings Olyer Stringer, Burlon Stringer, Loren Windham, Charlotte Pullin, Homer Lee Stringer, William Stringer, Grover Stringer, Jean Kyle, Shelly Stringer and Wylie Stringer. They were all raised to work hard on the family farm. Tommy always had great stories to tell about growing up with his siblings.

Tommy was a great husband, dad, papaw, pop to his family. He leaves behind a son, Russ Stringer, and a daughter Leah Tucker (Buz). His grandchildren loved their Papaw, Pop very much: Matthew Stringer (Kristen), Landon Stringer (Molly), Josh Stringer, Aleshia Tucker, Katie Alzheimer (Alex), Tuck Tucker (Lindsey), along with 7 great grandchildren: Lilly Stringer, Adam Stringer, Arlo Alzheimer, Killian Alzheimer, Lee Tucker, Nora Tucker, and baby V Tucker, who is being held in the arms of Papaw and Memaw. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

Tommy loved his family very much and always made sure everyone knew how much he loved and cared for them. Tommy never met a stranger. One of his favorite things was to meet and talk to people. He will leave behind many catchy sayings, including one of his favorites when asked what he was doing his reply would be, “Nothing, and I am thinking about doing it twice.” Tommy will be missed.

There will be a celebration of life at Corinth Baptist Church on Saturday July 27th 2024 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the church Corinth Baptist Church.
