John E. O’Neal

May 5, 1936 ~ July 29, 2024

John E. O’Neal went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 29, 2024, at the age of 88. He was a native and life-long resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana. John worked and owned several small businesses with his wife Ruth. With the exception of a few years, they worked together in everything. He was very active, playing golf, bowling, fishing and working in his garden. He enjoyed being outdoors.

John is preceded in death by his wife Ruth of 56 years, his parents Ellis and Adi O’Neal, children Karen Berthelot, Kathy O’Neal, Johnny O’Neal, Shelly O’Neal and Susan Bercegeay and his sister Violet.

John is survived by his daughter Vicki Decker, son Craig Shaw, 10 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 9am to 11am, with his Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11am in the Chapel. The services will be conducted by Pastor Stephen Hebert. Burial will follow in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Pinnacle Hospice for their compassionate care in the home, and the staff at The Crossing in Baton Rouge for their wonderful care at the end of his life. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in John’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
