Leslie Louis “Buddy” Braud of Denham Springs, Louisiana was born on 01-05-1947 in Baton Rouge, LA and passed at the age 77 on 7-23-2024. He was a graduate of Istrouma Class of 1966 and was then drafted into the Army in 1967. Leslie was sent to Vietnam on his senior trip after his training at Fort Polk, and fought in and near Chu-Lai, where he trained as a door gunner on a helicopter as well as ground duty. After being honorably discharged in 1969, Leslie worked at Uniroyal until 1981. In 1985, he started delivering newspapers for The Advocate until he eventually retired in 2008.
He is survived by brothers Johny Braud (Cathy) and Jody Braud (Melissa), sister Connie Claire Braud Heroman (Dorian), and 22 nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Elder Braud Jr. and Beverly Belle Bergeron Braud.
Leslie lost his battle to Lung Cancer and C.H.F. He loved ‘Lonesome Dove’ and wanted to be thought of as “cheerful in all weathers, never shirked a task, splendid behavior.” Leslie loved life, telling stories, reminiscing, hunting, fishing, and sharing a good joint every now and then! His love for his dogs, Dame and Hanna, was great and their ashes will join him for his memorial ceremony at Port Hudson Veteran’s National Cemetery at a later date.
