Darlene “Faye” Bennett Newland, a resident of Central and native of Walker, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, at the age of 64. She was born on July 27, 1960, to JoeWade and Mae Dell Bennett. She graduated from Walker High School, where she was a member of the Ladycats basketball team that won the 1977 District 2A State Championship. Faye worked for the Livington Parish Sherriff’s Office for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Like her mother, she knew how to cook and enjoyed sharing a meal with her family and friends. Her most favorite pastime was spending every moment she had with her grandson, Kelton. She was survived by her son, Linwood “Joedale” Williams,  grandson, Kelton Williams, sister, Betty Sibley; brother, Dennis Bennett; numerous nieces and nephews; a friend who became a sister, Sherri Santangelo; and her dog, Taz. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Linwood Kelton Williams; her son Norwood Carter Williams; her brothers, Jerry Don Bennett and Roger Bennett; and her second husband, Donald Newland. Honorary pallbearers will be her lifelong friends from her basketball team: Theresa Carroll Allen, Bobbie Chauncey Williams, Suzy Campbell Garlington, and Stacie Foster Matherne. A service to celebrate Faye’s life will be held at Revival Temple Church in Walker, Louisiana, on Monday, August 19th, 2024, at 4 pm. The family invites all who knew and loved Faye to join them in honoring her memory.

    My dear sister Faye I’ve been a brother in law for many years now and went to walker high with you I will always miss and love you and so sad that you’re gone but I know your in heaven not hurting not worrying not working your fingers to the bone. Your in heaven with our lord and savior and all family members that passed before you I know your at peace. I will always remember your cooking your talks your love for everyone you always took care of everyone you knew a heart of gold that’s what you have we will always cherish and miss you my sister in law love Bubbie
