In loving memory of William Glenn Tate (1948-2024)
William Glenn Tate, age 75, of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 8, 2024, after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janet Weatherford Tate, his cherished children, Lori Tate Yi and husband Alexander “Andy” Yi, and Kelly Colleen Tate; his sister-in-law Kathy Griffin Tate and nephews Chad James Tate and Brent Joseph Tate; his niece Sheri Tate Hughes, and his best friend, Tom. He was also the proud grandfather to Benjamin Alexander Yi and Madelyn Tate Yi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Glenn Tate and Mildred Laverne Lewis Tate Stevens, his brother James R. “Jimmy” Tate and his sister Sandra Tate Minyard.
After graduating from Woodlawn High School, Glenn worked with his father and brother in construction. He moved on to work at various businesses in Baton Rouge including tire sales at Bob Holley Tires, tire vulcanizing at Jetstream Rubber Company, nuclear security at River Bend Nuclear Plant and commercial kitchen installation supervision at Buckalew Restaurant Equipment. Outside of work, Glenn’s hobbies were as varied as his careers. He was a talented woodworker and carpenter. He loved bass fishing on the bayous with his brother Jimmy and their friends. And he loved entertaining family and friends with his musical talents singing and playing country music on his guitar. He was a devoted husband, an amazing father and a loyal friend. His sudden loss will leave holes in many hearts.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024, from 2:00pm – 6:00pm at Juban Parc Clubhouse, 11333 Juban Parc Ave., Denham Springs, LA 70726.
