Thomas Eric Johnson II

8/14/1989 – 8/19/2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas Eric Johnson II, a cherished son, brother, and uncle, who departed peacefully on August 19, 2024, just after dawn.  He will be profoundly missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing his friendship.

Born on August 14, 1989, in Baton Rouge, LA, Thomas was the son of Eric and Jackie Johnson. Thomas graduated from Parkview Baptist High School in 2007. In his teenage years he was actively involved in the National Society Children of the American Revolution, where he served as Vice President of the South-Central Region and Louisiana State President. As the LSCAR State President, he successfully raised funds for two concrete benches placed at the Chapel of the Louisiana War Veterans home.

Following high school, Thomas pursued his passion for serving his country by joining the United States Marine Corps, where he celebrated his 18th birthday in boot camp at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. His dedicated service earned him several honors, including the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal.

After returning home, Thomas continued his education at Louisiana State University, focusing on history, and was a proud member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity (nickname FIGI). Thomas worked alongside his parents in the family sand and gravel mining business, becoming a successful gravel producer.

Thomas is survived by his parents and two sisters: Christina Zaunbrecher (Dustin) and children, Addy and Ethan; and Claire Henry (Khairy) and their child, Mason, along with his beloved pet, Hattie.

A military service and celebration of Thomas’s life will take place on October 4, 2024, at 11:00AM at the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, LA. The family invites guests to join them for lunch at their home afterward.
