William H. (Bill) Bremen Sr., 83, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, born on June 26, 1941, in Haidewaldau Kreis Gorlitz, Germany, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA with his wife by his side.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of Baker High School in Columbus, GA and studied psychology at McKendree College in Lebanon, IL. He is former resident of Mt. Vernon, IL, Windsor, CA, and Belleville, IL. Bill spent much of his professional life as a salesman in the insurance and automobile industries. He was active in the Republican Party in both Illinois and California. Bill was a member of many civic and fraternal organizations including Lions Club International and Knights of Coumbus. He enjoyed gardening and earned the honor of Master Gardner through the University of Illinois Extension Center. Bill loved to sing and sang with barbershop quartets and in karaoke contests, winning the title of “Senior Idol” at St. Clair County Fair in 2009. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and playing golf.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Bremen; sons, William H. (Billy) Bremen Jr. and Eric Bremen; in-laws, Robert and Marie Kelly; son-in-law, Thomas (Dwaine) Williams; brother, Johnny Bremen; sister, Mary Lou Stapley, and sister-in-law; Jacqueline Jones.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years Patricia, nee Kelly, Bremen of Denham Springs, LA; daughters, Kelly (Thomas) Williams of Mt. Vernon, IL, Gretchen (Shane) Morgan of Denham Springs, LA, and Lela Bremen of Ocean Springs, MS; two granddaughters Corie (Timothy) Boyd of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Gracie Morgan of Denham Springs, LA; seven grandsons, Taylor and Cole Williams of Mt. Vernon, IL Noah Morgan of Baton Rouge, LA, Jonah Morgan of Denham Springs, LA, Jeffery and Vincent Bremen of Santa Rosa, CA, and Aiden Bremen of Ocean Springs, MS; three great granddaughters, Thai, Karma, and Tee’gan Boyd of Mt. Vernon, IL; brother-in-law, Robert Kelly of Upper Lake, CA, and several nieces and great nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be held locally at a later date with a private burial to be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lions Club International “Empowering Services Fund” at www.lionsclub.org.
