It is with deep sorrow yet enduring gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Susan Byrne Lacomb, who entered eternal rest on October 28, 2024 at the age of 78.
Born on June 2, 1946, to William Francis Byrne and Phonie Nell Hudson Byrne in Pineville, Louisiana, Susan was the heart of the family and lived every day of the last 28 years for her grandchildren.
Susan was a woman of unwavering resilience, raising two daughters and nurturing seven granddaughters and one great-granddaughter with the kind of warmth and wisdom only she could provide. Though she has left us, her spirit will live on in cherished memories and the lives she touched with her stories and humor.
Susan is survived by her daughters, Suzanne “Mykie” Lavigne (Rick) and Netsi Pruitt (Chris); granddaughters, Josie, Katie, Kayden, Garden, Marlee, Jillian, and Kirstin; and great-granddaughter Charlotte; as well as sisters, Jeannie Wells and Fran Applebaum.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, William and Phonie Byrne, and the love of her life, Freddie Vercher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, in Pineville, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
