Michael Dwayne Launey, 69, passed on October 30, 2024 at his Denham Springs home. He was born on December 7, 1954 in Turkey Creek, Louisiana to his parents Edgar and Versie Launey. He worked as a bail bondsman since the 80s and a mechanic for his entire life. Michael enjoyed going to classic car shows and riding his motorcycle in the mountains, as well as winning several trophies from drag racing. Taking care of his yard and mowing his lawn was a constant task he was more than happy to tackle. Michael was full of love and his greatest joy in life was taking care of his family and those around him. His reach and care extended far beyond his immediate family, and he prided himself on the love he could give back to the community. There are not enough or the accurate enough words to say how bright and lively of a person Michael Dwayne Launey was, and he will be deeply missed by all those that were lucky enough to have him in their life.
He is survived by his mother Versie Deshotel, daughter C. Michelle Launey Hutson (Alan), son Michael D. Launey II (Erica), grandchildren Jordyn Gregory, Brianna Hutson, and Michael D. Launey III, sister Glenda Fontenot, nieces Bridget Roe, Roxie Lea, and Brandy Fontenot, nephews Jamey Bertrand and Danny Fontenot, ex-wives Paulette C. Launey and Coleen Howland, and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Edgar Launey, sister and brother-in-law Elvie Meadors (Chris “Byron” Whittington), sister and brother-in-law Amanda Bertrand (Gene), and brother-in-law Elvin Fontenot.
Pallbearers will be Jamey Bertrand, Danny Fontenot, Drew Comeaux, Chris Babin, Randy Blanchard, and Jeremy Heine. Honorary pallbearer is Kaleb Barkley.
There will be a visitation held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 11am to 2pm with a service starting at 2pm. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.

I’ll miss our phone calls & text and remember the good old days riding in your 69 Chevelle as & riding our motorcycles making the people down the street mad with all the noise. I’ll miss you Mike RIP my good friend.

It’s been years, but my family lived in the same neighborhood in the 80’s and Mike was a big help when my van needed work, and his son Michael was my favorite neighborhood kid. My prayers and condolences to Michelle, Michael and the family.
