Howard Dudley Efferson, a faithful follower of Christ, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away Friday, November 1, 2024 at the age of 72.
Howard was a husband, father, and grandfather who was loving, gentle, kind and loyal. He displayed constant humility in the way he lived his life. Each person who met him loved his
gentle personality. He was a long-time member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church in which he was honored to serve as a lighting technician. He enjoyed going on mission trips
to Tennessee with his church as they helped a Baptist Youth Camp (Camp Ba-Yo-Ca) with construction and maintenance in the Wears Valley area. He was blessed to visit Israel
which enriched his love for the Bible. He was a long-time employee of 28 years as a packaging technician who retired from Syngenta in 2008. He also served as a volunteer at
Judson Baptist Association Seaman Center Ministry serving the merchant marines that came into the Mississippi River port. He will be missed by all those who have known him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest “Dudley” Efferson and Blanche McLean Efferson; sisters, Shirley Efferson and Frances Berry.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wanda Clayton Efferson; his daughter, Lisa Gonzalez; son, Jason (Jennifer) Efferson; four grandchildren, Jillian Efferson, Allie Efferson, Kaleb Gonzalez, Trinity Gonzalez; sister, Donna Dearman; brother, James Efferson; brother-in-law Don Berry; beloved mother-in-law, Yvonne Clayton.
Pallbearers will be Doug Dearman, Jeramie Dearman, Gerald Knapps, Michael Dearman, Mike Davis, and Gene Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Tullier and John Hobbs.
We especially want to express our gratitude to our friends Gene and Lynne Jenkins, Bob and Vanita Cook, and Gerald and Donna Knapps for always being here whenever needed.
Visitation will be held at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00

Our hearts hurt for all of you. He will be missed so much by all of you. Lisa’s children will really miss him in the weeks ahead. They have lost so much in such a short time. All of you will be tuned in to them now as their needs will be great. God will provide for you at this time as he is carrying you to the other side and when he knows you are ready he will set you down at the right time. God has got this. This picture you sent to us this morning of the cub scout camping trip with Huey’s giant cook book brought back so many memories. That picture of Jeremy was precious. It brought back some happy memories to us. Thank you for that. You know we cannot be with you, just remember our hearts and prayers are with all of you. We love you and if you need to talk I have a phone or you know where we live.
