Beloved husband and father Willis Quinton Shumaker, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born in Mississippi on August 09, 1931, to Lucille and Willis A. Shumaker, who both preceded him in death.

 

Willis was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his life, he embodied the ideals of this honorable branch of the United States Military. He was meticulous and orderly in his habits, kind and always honest, and approached life with integrity and humility. He enjoyed music from a young age and especially loved playing his steel guitar. He also enjoyed automobiles and had many in his lifetime, including a 1965 Mustang he singlehandedly restored. Later in life, he enjoyed playing golf and practicing at the driving range.

 

Willis is survived by his cherished wife of 68 years, Vonnie, as well as his three daughters and their spouses, Patti and Roy Misita, Janice and Waide Blackwell, and Bobbi and Ariel Cabezon. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his sister Claudia Sanders.

 

Family will gather for a private service to honor Willis’ life on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Louisiana National Cemetery, located at 303 W. Mount Pleasant Rd in Zachary, Louisiana.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Seale Funeral Home of Denham Springs. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Marine Corps League, Choctaw Detachment #778 (www.mclbatonrouge.org)
