James Alvin Morris
James Alvin Morris passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024. He was born a native of Mt. Herman, Louisiana to Irene Morris on July 3, 1935. Later in life, James moved to Denham Springs, Louisiana, and spent the remainder of his years there. At the age of 21 years old, Morris enlisted in the Army National Guard. After spending many years serving our country, he became a heavy equipment operator. James was not only well known and respected for his hard work in everything he did, but was also known for his love for his family and friends.
He loved to sit around on Sundays after a family fish fry and tell stories about his childhood on the farm, his time working on the roadways, and many, many stories of his hunting and fishing adventures. He thrived on living a simple life with MaMa Betty by his side. He was a loving brother, husband and father. His greatest joy was being a PaPa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was nothing that lit up his face more than seeing the kids running around and laughing and playing with them. In his words, he and MaMa had an “old-fashioned kind of love.” He loved her with his whole heart and then some. We know he is finally at peace again with MaMa at his side, cooking in the kitchen, on the swing under the patio, fishing their favorite spots, and enjoying a fresh brewed pot of coffee together.
James Morris is survived by his daughter Pamela (Jeffery) Morris-Robinson; his sons, Ricky Morris (Evelyn) and Russell Morris (Kathleen); grandchildren, Kelli (Steve), Brandy, Justin (Ruth), Kimmithy, Lindsey, James (Maria) , Jessica (Travis), Tracie (Clay); great-grandchildren, Mary, Brayden, Emma, Montana, Lyla, Lane, Savannah, Kye, Merredith, Isabelle, Axel, Emery, Austin and Blaze.
He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 67 years Mary; his parents, Tilmer and Irene; brothers, Clinton, Huey; sisters, Daisy, Dixie, Naomi, Jeanette, Evelyn; and grandson, Cody Robinson.
