Robert Joseph Rossi, known to his loved ones as “Bobby,” passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 68. Born on January 10, 1956, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Bobby lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno Rossi and Delta Constantini Rossi. He is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Rossi, cherished daughters, Nicole and Melissa Rossi, his twin brother, Philip Rossi, and his oldest brother David Rossi. Along with many other friends and family. Bobby’s loving presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. A man of many talents and passions, Bobby excelled in various aspects of his life. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and started his career teaching history in Scranton, PA. However, his passion was always baseball. Leaving his home in Pennsylvania for the first time, he went to play professional baseball in Milan, Italy. When it was time to come back to the States, he went on to make a significant impact as a Professional Baseball Scout for numerous MLB teams for 25+ years, sharing his love for the sport with others. Beyond his professional achievements, Bobby was a committed member of the Baton Rouge Baseball Clinic, where he shared his knowledge and skills with young athletes. His contributions to the baseball community were recognized through his induction into the 2017 Millersville University Athletic Hall of Fame and the Northeast Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. But more than his accomplishments, Bobby will be remembered for his warm heart and welcoming spirit. His kind and accepting demeanor, Bobby had a special way of making everyone feel valued and appreciated. His genuine love for others and his ability to embrace people with open arms left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Bobby brought joy and enthusiasm to the dance floor and shared his passion for humor with anyone who met him. To know Bob was to love him. A Celebration of Life for Bobby will be held in Baton Rouge, LA to honor and remember the incredible legacy he leaves behind. To his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him, Bobby’s memory will continue to inspire and uplift. In the quiet moments and the memories shared, Bobby’s spirit will live on—a testament to the kindness, joy, and love he brought to the world. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of those whose lives he touched.
