Norma Jean Rodosta Garrett

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35

Our beloved matriarch, our guiding compass, and the heartbeat of our family, Norma Jean Rodosta Garrett, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 6, 2024, at the age of 82. Born in Plaquemine on February 27, 1942, she was a cherished resident of Denham Springs. Norma embodied the spirit of giving, believing deeply in the blessing of generosity, which she shared abundantly with all who knew her. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her radiant smile and sparkling blue eyes could brighten any room. Norma’s life was a testament to love and selflessness, as she wholeheartedly dedicated herself to her family, friends, and anyone in need. Her beautiful soul touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion. Norma was a passionate LSU sports fan, with a special fondness for LSU women’s basketball—a love rooted in her own high school days, where she played and earned a letter in basketball. She enjoyed dancing, camping, fishing, trips to Las Vegas, and going to the casino for dinner and playing penny slots. Dedicated to her profession, Norma worked in the hotel food and beverage industry, retiring from the Baton Rouge Hilton in 2015. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in those whose lives she touched.

Norma is survived by her children, Debbie Unbehagen, Pat Garrett (Laura), Sherry Flanagan (Richard), and Stephanie Gautreaux, her grandchildren, Garrett Unbehagen (Kimberely), Kayla Autin (Ryan), J.C. Garrett, Brooke Garrett (Shawn), Devin Copeland (Courtney) and Lauren Copeland (Cole), her great-grandchildren, Kaden, Samuel, and Adalynn Unbehagen, her siblings, Gayle Breeding, Michael “Mickey” Rodosta and Karen Cousin, and their sweet yorkie, Josie. She also leaves behind many close family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Lee Garrett, her parents, Dominic Cicio Rodosta and Helen Mae Rivet Rodosta, and her brother Joseph Dominick Rodosta.
