Osene Edison Bass

“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they are gone, the light remains.”

 

Osene Edison Bass, born March 27, 1936 in Grenada, Mississippi, passed peacefully into her heavenly home Friday, December 6, 2024. Osene dedicated her life to educating, nurturing, and shaping of young lives. This was done through many years of service at Live Oak Middle School, ., Northside Baptist Church, Open Door Baptist Church, as well as numerous childcare centers. She impacted countless young lives with her caring and nurturing spirit. She was a devout LSU fan with a deep love for LSU Baseball. But most of all, she was a dedicated grandmother. Her legacy of faith & love will continue on through those lives that she touched.

 

She is survived by her two granddaughters, Tiffany Sauseda and husband, Poncho, and Stephanie Smith; great-grandson, Kristian Stroud; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other very dear friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Bass Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jay Smith; John Bass Sr.; parents, Lake and Lillian Edison; and her all of her beloved siblings.

 

Osene’s life was enriched by her dear friendship with Reda Cockerham, and she found comfort and care in the presence of special individuals such as Nurse Olivia and NP Lacy at Central Guest House. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to St. Joseph’s Hospice for their support.

 

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Saturday, December 14, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Please share your condolences at .
