Michael J. Buvens, age 74, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on November 24, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, Michael was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
Michael is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rita C Buvens, children: James Buvens (Krystal Buvens), Michael Buvens (Jennifer Buvens), Brian Buvens, and Joseph Buvens (Katie Buvens). He was a proud grandfather to Aja Madere, Christian Buvens, Kyle Buvens, Skyler Buvens, and Parker Buvens, and a cherished great-grandfather to Preston Newman. Michael is also survived by his sister, Patricia Brumfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. Buvens and Patricia Buvens.
Michael attended Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana State University. He spent his career at ExxonMobil, where he worked until his retirement. In his free time, Michael enjoyed riding his motorcycle and had a unique passion for collecting treasures—a pastime that reflected his appreciation for life’s oddities and curiosities.
Michael will be remembered by the memories he created with those he loved.
A memorial service will be held December 19, 2024 at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs. Visitation will be from 10am -12pm. Services will begin at 12pm with burial immediately following at Minton Cemetery in Walker.
Michael’s legacy will live on through the lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed.

So sorry for the loss of your husband Mike.We enjoyed talking with him when we would sit on the patio at Harvest Manor with Mother (Sarah Jones). I know she and Mike will spend Christmas in Heaven and we will see them again one day. Will be praying for you and your family.
