Sherri Lynn Becnel, born on June 26, 1948, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on December 20, 2024. She is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who cherished her family above all else.
Sherri was married to Richard Becnel for over 54 wonderful years, during which they built a life filled with love and shared passions. Together, they helped run several family-owned business’, including Louisiana Fundraisers, contributing significantly to their community. Sherri’s creative spirit shone through her many hobbies, including crafting, making clothes, jewelry, and purses. Her talents brought joy to those around her.
She found peace and happiness in the Smoky Mountains, where she spent cherished moments at her mountain cabin, balancing her time between the serene mountains and her home in Denham Springs. Sherri had a gentle, kindhearted nature, which endeared her to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Richard F. Becnel, Her son and his wife, Richard Mark Becnel and Anita D. Becnel, and grandsons, Joshua Connor Becnel, Nathan Ryan Becnel, Paul Anderson Johnson (Ella,) Case Crawford Johnson, and Beau Starks Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, J.C. Summers and Alice Ruth Summers, her brother Donald Lewis Summers, and her sister, Janis Anne Summers Chopin.
A founding member of the Krewe of Denham Springs and a dedicated member of the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center Guild, Sherri was active in her community. She also found strength and solace as a member of the First United Methodist Church of Denham Springs.
Sherri Lynn Becnel’s warmth and creativity will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Service will be at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Friday, December 27. Visitation will start at 9:00am with service starting at 11:00am.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital

Such a sweet lady. Always a smile, spoke softly and was always so kind to everyone she met. I graduated with Janice in 64 That is how I know Sherri .Many special memories will see you through this time.
