Daniel Franklin Davis
Daniel Franklin Davis was born September 5, 1953 to Edwin Franklin Davis and Catherine Ferguson Davis in Ashland, Kentucky. He grew up in Catlettsburg, Kentucky until age 13 when the family moved to Baton Rouge where he graduated from Woodlawn High School. Dan attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana before beginning an interesting and varied work career that included plumbing, construction, pipe fitting, piping design, and finally a construction management at Honeywell from which he retired. He was a proud 50 Year Member of Local 198 union. Dan was married to Kathryn Johnston Davis who was his best friend and great love of 33 years. He was an outdoorsman and avid hunter and made several big game hunts in Colorado. Dan loved riding his Harley in the mountains and along the Pacific Coast Highway in California. He was a fantastic cook and enjoyed discovering and creating new dishes. Dan enjoyed listening to music including hard rock, country, and Celtic music from Scotland and Ireland. Most importantly, Dan loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful follower all his life. His kindness, gentle spirit, and imposing size earned him the nickname Sugar Bear by his wife and friends. He passed away December 21, 2024 and is survived by his wife Kathryn J. Davis and nephews Burl Jones and Davis Jones. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Peggy Davis Jones, and niece Amanda Jones. Visitation on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024 at 10:30 to 1:30 at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, La. Services will follow at 1:30pm.
