Richard Duane Finch

Richard Duane Finch was called to his heavenly home to meet his Savior on December 19th, 2024. He was born on December 12th, 1948, in Texarkana, Texas. He graduated from Istrouma High School in 1967 and attended Louisiana State University. He then went to the Baton Rouge police academy to begin his much-loved career as a police officer, to which he dedicated his life for 50 years. He retired from the Baton Rouge police department and then worked for the Clinton, Louisiana, and St. Francisville, Louisiana police departments. He loved being a police officer and would always say, “I’m cop to the bone.” His  passions included golf and fishing. His favorite pastime was watching the LSU Tigers play baseball in the Old Alex Box Stadium (where he was very vocal!). Duane had a great heart and loved his family. He was such a proud dad and never missed his son, Greg’s games, or his daughter, Gabby’s dance recitals.

Duane is preceded in death by his mother, Villa Finch, father, Richard Finch, brother, Raymond Finch, and grandparents,  Horace and  Lucille Weaver.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Greg Finch, daughter, Gabrielle (Gabby) Finch, granddaughter, Alexis Finch, sisters, Linda (Rodney) Bankston, Vickie Boyd and Margie (David) Welch and many nieces and nephews.

He was a long-time member of Istrouma Baptist Church. Dad, we will miss you, but we are comforted in knowing we will see you again.
