Cason Josiah Walters was born on September 19, 2016, at Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A micro preemie weighing just 1 pound, 1 ounce, and measuring 10 inches long, he was a true miracle from the very beginning. His strength and determination were evident from his earliest moments, spending 356 days in the NICU and later 34 days in the PICU at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge.
Lovingly welcomed by his parents, Tai (Cawthon) and Gabe Walters, Cason was affectionately known as their “miracle baby,” “superboy,” and “Stinkabutt.” His remarkable life, though far too brief, was filled with boundless joy, adventure, and love. He attended Tanglewood Elementary School in Central City, Louisiana, where his love for learning and exploring the world shone brightly.
Cason had a special fondness for Halloween and Christmas. Halloween was pure magic for him, a time to dress up in playful costumes, marvel at spooky decorations, and delight in the thrill of trick-or-treating. At Christmastime, he was mesmerized by the twinkling lights, colorful ornaments, and whimsical holiday displays.
Cason’s love of fire trucks and first responder vehicles was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and awe for bravery and heroism. His favorite toys, a beloved yellow hammer and a jet, were his constant companions as he explored the world around him. He cherished the simple joys of being outside, video calling family and friends, and spending time watching his trusty iPad.
He is survived by his loving family, including his younger brothers, Callan Jase and Cree Jhett Walters of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; maternal grandparents Joe and Bessie Cawthon of Fulton, Kentucky; and paternal grandparents Gary and Kathy Martin (paternal grandmother) of Gilbert, Louisiana, and Don (paternal grandfather) and Gail Walters of Calhoun, Louisiana.
Cason was deeply loved by a host of aunts and uncles, including TJ (Timothy) and Shelby Bevly of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Chenora Cawthon and LaShonda Cawthon both of Union City, Tennessee; Cade and Jordan Jackson of Austin, Texas; and Kemi Genes of Savannah, Georgia. He also had loving godparents, Daniel Harwell and Melanie Townsend of Houston, Texas. His determination and courage left an indelible mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to share in his story, friends and family alike.
Cason Josiah Walters, our miracle, our superboy, and forever our Stinkabutt, leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and wonder. His memory will continue to inspire, reminding us to embrace life’s miracles, persevere through challenges, and find joy in every precious moment. His light will never dim, living on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, Louisiana on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 3:00 PM. Graveside service to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.

Tai and Gabe, there are no words to express how sorry we are for your loss. Just know that God has plans to prosper and not to harm. At this time, we are blanketing you and Callan and Cree in prayers to help get through the darkness. Cason was a bright light, and God has used him for HIS divine purpose. So, while our family grieves, we can take comfort in knowing that our Father has everything under HIS control and one day for all those who believe in our Lord Jesus, we will be reunited with Cason, and he will be whole!
