James Roderick (Roddy) Hurst

James Roderick (Roddy) Hurst, resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana entered the presence of the Lord on January 13, 2025. He was born May 10, 1952, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was a graduate of Broadmoor High School and Southeastern Louisiana University. Roddy could shoe a horse, build a barn, and put on the best fireworks show. He was a great listener, had a sharp sense of humor, and was always a cheerleader of other’s endeavors. He was a lover of animals, stadium hot dogs, and a good cup of coffee. And his favorite way to pass the time was on his boat or around a campfire with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Norma Hurst.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Simoneaux Hurst, daughters Katie Chatelain and son-in-law, Brett, and Caroline Forman and son-in-law, Nicholas, and his sister, Sheryl Hurst Mann, and husband, Michael. He was grandfather to Molly Claire, Meg, & Graham Chatelain, and Matt & Julianne Forman.

A graveside service will be held for his family.
