James “Jimmy” Burlin Hollowell, Jr. went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. He was born to James Burlin Hollowell, Sr. and Barbara Ann Hollowell on September 3, 1961. Jimmy was raised in Water Valley, Mississippi, but spent most of his adult life in Walker, Louisiana. To all those who knew him, Jimmy was the kindest and most generous soul.

Jimmy was a devoted husband for over 38 years to the love of his life, Diane Sasser Hollowell. Jimmy and Diane were married on April 12, 1986, and had one daughter, Katilyn “Katie” Hollowell.

Jimmy served for many years as a maintenance mechanic, first at Borden, then Kaiser, and finally Exxon, where he rose to the role of Supervisor. In 2017, Jimmy retired from Exxon, after over 20 years of dedicated service.

Jimmy grew up farming and returned to his love later in life as an avid gardener; he was well known in Walker for his home-grown produce. Jimmy also had a great love for fishing and tinkering with his antique Farmall tractors. Most of all Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, never missing the opportunity to make everyone laugh.

Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, James Burlin Hollowell, Sr. and Barbara Ann Hollowell, and his devoted four-legged companion, Bella. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Hollowell; his loving daughter, Katie Hollowell; his sisters, Darlene (Kerry) Malone and Lisa Ann Hollowell, and brothers, Terry (Jill) Hollowell and Barry Hollowell; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Hilda Sasser; brother-in-law, Mike Sasser; his three faithful four-legged companions, Beau, Finn, and Trixie, and multiple nieces; nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

Jimmy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him.

Pallbearers are Barry Hollowell, Terry Hollowell, Hosea Kelley, Kerry Malone, Timmy Graves, Mark Millican, Ray Swetledge, and Ken McMorris. Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Strother and Henry “Bug” Lamonica.

Services will be held at Revival Temple in Walker, Louisiana on Monday, January 27, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. presided over by Mrs. Peggy Swetledge and Rev. Wes Courtney. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Denham Springs, Louisiana.
