John Louis Hood passed at the age of 79 on February 1, 2025 at his home in Denham Springs. He was born in Livingston, Louisiana on March 28, 1945 to his parents Otto Hood and Jessie Wilma Hood. He graduated from high school and was a proud veteran of the National Guard. John worked as an electrician for many years and was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church. He loved to spend his time hunting and fishing, watching NASCAR racing, and reading from his Bible. He will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege to love and care for him, and his joy will continue being carried on by his loved ones.
He is survived by his spouse of 60 years Glenda M. Hood, daughters Sheila H. Jenkins (Wendell Jenkins), Michelle Dobbins (Larry Dobbins), and Ruby Williams (Mike Williams), sons Otto J. Hood (Normandy Hood) and John A. Hood, grandchildren Emma Hood, Trevor Hood, Megan Jenkins, and Samuel Jenkins, sisters Lee Turner, Debbie McMorris, and Delores McDonald, niece Sherry Humphreys, nephews Aaron McMorris, Kato Clark, and Charles McDonald, and family friends Brandon Hutcherson and Brandi Hutcherson.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Jenkins, Brandon Hutcherson, Tuan Thanh Francis Tran, Tyler Smith, Franklin Fowler, and Mike Williams. Honorary Pallbearer is Wendell Jenkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents Otto and Jessie Hood, grandson Jesse K. Hood, sister Ruby Hood, sister Tina Clark, and sister Ysleta Hood.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Lighthouse Pentecostal Church from 10am to 1pm with a service starting at 1pm led by Rev. Mike Craig and Rev. Jerry Arnold. Burial will follow at Lighthouse Pentecostal Cemetery.
