JoAnn Wascom

JoAnn Elizabeth Maggio Wascom, resident of Walker, Louisiana passed away on February 3, 2025. She was born on August 11, 1945 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  She worked for 38 years at Livingston Parish Fire Protection District #4 as Secretary to the Chief. She loved her family, especially her children and her “grands”. Her faith was very important to her, being a long time parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and serving on numerous committees.

JoAnn is survived by her children, Michelle Wascom, O’Neal Wascom and wife, Carrie, and James Wascom and wife, Dannielle; grandchildren, Faustin Wascom and wife, Callie, Brady Wascom and wife, Michelle, and Hayley Wascom; great grandchildren, Savannah, Kamryn, Travis, Heidi, Manson, and Rachel Wascom; brother, Joseph B. Maggio II. and wife, Amy; and her wonderful sitter, Becky Richardson.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Jesse Wascom; parents, Joseph B. Maggio, Sr. and Mary Bell Bujol Maggio; and sister, Mary Teresa Maggio Mitchell.

The family would like to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice for the great care given to JoAnn, especially our amazing nurse, Lori Ann Wild; our CNA, Claudette Duncan; and our social worker, Patricia Spears.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, Louisiana on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the funeral mass at 12:00 PM conducted by Father Joseph Bresowar.
