Edwin “Ed” Sasser

Edwin “Ed” Sasser went peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday, February 17, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born to Charles Sasser and Effie Robinson Sasser on February 6, 1944. Ed was raised in Hineston, Louisiana, but spent most of his adult life in Walker, Louisiana.

Ed was a devoted husband for over 62 years to his loving wife, Hilda Sibley Sasser. Ed and Hilda were married on July 27, 1962, and had one daughter, Diane Sasser Hollowell, and one son, Michael Carl Sasser.

Ed worked for most of his life as a millwright, retiring from Borden Chemical after many years of loyal service. During his retirement, Ed enjoyed raising hunting beagles, spending time in Louisiana’s great outdoors, including deer, squirrel, and rabbit hunting, and fishing. Ed was a great family man, he loved spending time with his three adoring granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. He never failed to make everyone laugh with a joke or a story. Ed will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, Charles Sasser and Effie Robinson Sasser; his brothers, Louis Charles Sasser and Gary Charles Sasser; and his son-in-law, Jimmy Hollowell. He is survived by his beloved wife, Hilda Sibley Sasser; his daughter, Diane Sasser Hollowell; his son, Michael Carl Sasser; his granddaughters, Brittany Sasser Strother (Kyle), Katilyn “Katie” Michelle Hollowell, and Lauren Elizabeth Sasser; his great-grandchildren, Ella Koczrowski, Londyn Strother, and Landus Strother; his brother, Eual Charles Sasser; and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

Pallbearers are Kyle Strother, Kenneth Craig, Don Craig, Scott Craig, Ronnie Sibley, Ken McMorris, Luther Edwards, and Mitchel Vicknair.

Services will be held at Revival Temple in Walker, Louisiana on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m., presided over by Rev. Dan McMasters and Rev. Wes Courtney. Burial will follow at Vickers Cemetery in Walker, Louisiana.
