Loretta Ann Hood Sullivan passed peacefully at the age of 78 on February 19, 2025. She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to her parents Johnny D. and Norma Lorena Leggett on September 17, 1946. She was a long-time resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana and retired from working as a Disability Determination coordinator from the State government. Loretta was a faithful Christian who shared her love with those around her and was deeply loved in return. She enjoyed watching and feeding her hummingbirds, rocking on her back porch with a hot cup of coffee, and was overjoyed to spend time visiting with family and friends. She was a strong woman who stayed that way to the very end and she will be dearly missed by all those who had the privilege to know and love her.
She is survived by her daughters Carla Bielkiewicz (Scott), Cynthia Craig, and Shellie “Nikki” Sullivan (Nick), bonus son Edwin Miller, grandchildren Chris Whitehead (Vivian), Samantha Waguespack (Leo), Hailey Sullivan, Whitney Sullivan, Matthew Sullivan (Jessica), Lori Baradell, Patrick Craig, and Brandi Gomez, bonus grandchildren Preslie Rodriguez, Candy Watson (Jeff), Skottie LaCroix (Louis), Jaimi Bielkiewicz, and Kayla Marcus, and siblings Yvonne Bernard (Keith), Hollis Hood (Teresa), Kenneth Hood (Sheila), Michael Hood (Audrey), Cathy Boone (Tom), Eddie Wayne Nagin (Dana), and Danny Nagin (Laura).
She is preceded in death by her husband Cecil M. Sullivan, father Johnny D. Hood Sr., step-mother Jennie Spiller Hood, mother Norma Lorena Leggett, brothers Johnny D. Hood Jr., Bobby Nagin, and Don Nagin, sisters Narvis Jean Moore, Mary Lou Reed, Nora Carlene Allen, and Gail Nagin.
A special thanks to the staff of the 2nd floor staff and ICU staff at Ochsner Hospital on O’Neal Lane for taking such great care of our precious mother and all of us during this difficult time.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 for a visitation starting at 12:00pm until the funeral service at 3:00pm. Services will dismiss from the funeral home and there will be no graveside service to follow.
